1. Ask customers what new tales they would like to see in the Shadow Play Book project.
2. Break out the storyline into eight key scenes that recount the entire plot, keeping children and their parents engaged and excited.
3. Create layouts for the illustrations.
4. Test the silhouettes and kid-proof them by removing or replacing fragile elements that might rip during play.
5. Make a mock-up to check everything, with the final tweaks. Only after all this has been completed is the full layout sent to the manufacturer.
6. Write a brief version of the tale that can be read comfortably in five to seven minutes, rather than over several nights.
7. Record an audiobook and upload it to the Shadow Play Book website.
Each book takes two to three months to progress from concept to release.
